Don't be Fooled by a 0.024% Cut

If we must do something truly stupid, such as take on huge debt called "stimulus", then at least let us be minimal about it.

After a one-day skirmish, Obama has discarded the $200 million for "Family Planning" from the "stimulus" package.
He hopes that he can get some Republican support after sacrificing this ill-considered 0.024% of the total.

That's right, it was only about 0.024% of the total Stimulus being contemplated.

Let us remind our Republicans of this math and let us not provide a single vote of support until every line of the document has been scoured for similar types of political payback and democrat patronage.  I want to see and hear about another thousand stories like the "family planning" one.

Addition By Subtraction

STEPHANOPOULOS: Hundreds of millions of dollars to expand family planning services. How is that stimulus?

PELOSI: Well, the family planning services reduce cost. They reduce cost. The states are in terrible fiscal budget crises now and part of what we do for children's health, education and some of those elements are to help the states meet their financial needs. One of those - one of the initiatives you mentioned, the contraception, will reduce costs to the states and to the federal government.

STEPHANOPOULOS: So no apologies for that?
PELOSI: No apologies. No. we have to deal with the consequences of the downturn in our economy.
The burning question is, whose familes will get "planned", and who will do the "planning"?
Look for clues above in red.

I suspect that it might be people whose existence is a burden to state and federal budgets?
I suspect it might be the people who have been taught from birth to sit still and just make sure you vote for government to save you.

Hey all you "compassionate" Lefties...do you want to make a guess about whose children will be piped off to municipal waste-water treatment plants in order to save costs?

Will it be:

      a) The children of rich people who pay thier own bills
      b) The children of poor people who rely on government to pay their bills.

Crickets anyone?

----------

Reply to Comment
:  "Family Planning" is a euphemism for abortion plus contraception.  For places that provide both parts, only abortion generates enough profit to pay the bills. Contraception is the marketing program for establishing contact with prospective customers.  Similarly, your pediatrician cannot pay the bills by handing out lollypops to the kids.

The abortion lobby does not pay Democrats to advance their lollypop distribution program.  Democrats are paid to advance profit-making abortions while using "family planning" as mere rhetorical cover.

Beyond your semantic trifle: How is it that preventing child birth saves money for any State?  What is the mechanism of your premise? Whose children cost States money? And also, happens to the carcasses of aborted fetuses?

Thanks for leaving the comment anyhow.

Noam

Cooling on Warming

The four most potent figures in the debate right now (to me) are as follows. Solar photos taken from SOHO. Ocean Temperature shifts from a guy at NASA.

Photos below are from January 2002 and January 2008.  Notice the difference in solar energy output.
By the way, I look at SOHO images every week or so for several years now.  The sun began quieting down very significantly in June or so of 2007, if you care to know.

Next is a pair of charts showing change in ocean temperatures (blue is cooler, red is warmer).
Oceans are cooling in the same time period when the sun was calming.  What a crazy coincidence.

Maps of change in heat content in the oceans from 1993 through 2003, and 2003 through 2005.

There is no hiding the change, and yet it remains a mystery to many scientists whose grant money would be undone by the admission that global warming is not within the understanding of scientists, nor within the control of humanity.   For a decade, they argued cynically that their computer models justifiably ignored solar variation They simply needed to leave room for the computers to conclude that CO2 was to blame, and mankind.  There was no funding available for other conclusions.

Now they argue that recent cooling is due to solar inactivity, but they cannot have it both ways.

Conclusion:  Dogmatic colleagues of mine have gone from agressive to mum.  Next step is from mum to passively apologetic. So the scam isn't quite over yet.

Skilled, Educated People Need Not Apply

Proof of the Prediction That I Made in "McJobs Arrive at Harvard"

Exhibit A:
The Federal Government intends to hire untrained McWorkers for McJobs in McConstruction, rapidly.  By the way, Reich was a McProfessor at McHarvard before he took a position as a McCabinet Member for the Clinton Administration.
Watch this dialog between Reich and Rangle.  Notice the vague references to formulas and criteria.  A Harvard Prof should know that the plural of "formula" is "formulae", by the way.

Hey NYT...Don't let the Rio Grande hit your butt on your way out

Hola Señor Ombudsman of the New York Times:

Now that Mexican trillionaire-in-pesos Carlos Helu has "invested" $250 million into the New York Times you will have a new job Title. It will be "Defensor del Pueblo".  That is what Google Translate makes out of the word "Ombudsman".

Translating that back into English, it means "Defender of the Town".  How about that?

Hey there "Defensor", you may not have noticed, but the "town" you are defending has been picked up and carted off to Mexico by Mr. Helu.

Your new job as "Defensor del Pueblo" is simple.  You will be an apologist for the crappy journalists at your newspaper.  They, in turn, will be apologists for something related to Carlos Helu or Mexico.

I cannot wait until you are replaced by a Mexican who will be paid much less money for the hard work of ignoring journalistic malpractice that is so rampant at your newspaper.

Hasta la no vista buddy. Don't let the Rio Grande River hit your butt on the way out.

Good Luck With That Responsibility Thing Mr. Obama

How sweet the sight of Obama lecturing a sea of democrats at his inauguration about "hard work" and "responsibility".

He got no applause, no cheers.  Just blank staring at that point.

Doesn't he know that if they follow his advice they will become Republicans who won't need to suckle the teets of government any longer.  Suckle his teets.  Suckle Democrat teets.

Didn't somebody tell him that Democrats want equal outcomes, not equal effort or skill or work?  They want success, and they wanted it to be handed to them by the lucky few who find bits of it laying about the vast forest of non-opportunity.

Ivy League Cleptocrats

"Pay no attention to the men behind the curtain.  They are the great and mighty OZ".

Paulson, Bernake, Rubin, Greenspan, Volker, and Geithner are the men behind the curtain.  They are standing in their booth... flailing away at the buttons, levers, and cranks that give them "control" over our economy, while smoke and sparks come flying out everywhere.

These men are supposed to be well-heeled geniuses of Finance and Economics.  But they are really just a cadre of co-dependent imposters. The levers and nobs release smoke and sparks that used to impress everybody.  But no longer.  Count me out.  I see these guys as a bunch of feckless boobs that are the byproduct of Ivy League's dedication to give diplomas to people who pay five times too much money for them.

In reality, these men control almost nothing about the real economy, nor should they. They don’t have even 0.01% of the brain-power that would be needed to play out the economic ramifications of the decisions they make.  Robert Rubin was the "genius" during the Clinton years, but prosperity came from having real Republicans in the H of R.  After Rubin's first gig ended, he took Citibank for a $20 Billion face-plant by buying up high-risk mortgages that my mother would be smart enough to avoid. She graducated from Keuka College and paid far less money for it. For destroying Citibank, Robert Rubin gained $100M of personal worth, and he will now get another gig in the Obama Whitehouse as the a booster-seat to hold up the boy Geithner at Obama's cabinet table.

Meanwhile, hard hitting Journalists want to know about Sarah Palin’s newspapers, or her son Trig.

Fundamentally, even I know that we cannot allow inflation to devalue dollars faster than interest rates restore value to debt.  When that happens, debt will have negative value for banks, and the banks will collapse because people will figure out that their deposits are being steadily lost.  They will withdraw whatever remains as soon as possible. "Stimulating" the economy by inflating and devaluing the currency will have the opposite of the intended effect.  It will "stimulate" us the same way as getting hit by a truck would "stimulate" us.  Our legs will twitter and our chest will heave for a few moments, that's all.

Taaaa-Daaaa!    It was all be brought to you be our nation's "smart" people--who always think they need to be working on a problem that is "Greater than Themselves".

It is time for Toto to bite the curtain and pull it back so we can see that our “smart” people are actually stupid frauds who are running a Cleptocracy, not a Democracy. It is time for a million or so financial geniuses in Manhattan to learn how to do something useful, like milk a cow or pick fruit.  Their days as paper-jockeys cannot end fast enough.  If these people won't get real work, then they should be tossed into the Ocean.  Then 25 of the State's electoral college votes should be taken away and given to Kansas.

McJobs Arrive at Harvard

I would like to go on record, and make a detailed public prediction about what will happen when thousands of workers take up new government-based “green jobs” all across the country.

During his campaign, Obama spoke of a plan to take hundreds of thousands of unemployed people and rapidly hire them into the federal government in order to do “green jobs” such as installing insulation, roofing, and windows in the vast tracks of rickety old houses in and around Philadelphia, for example. Makes sense. Sounds good.

But consider the impact this will have upon of professional installers of window, insulation, and roofing that region. Thousands of professionals who have invested their lives into building a skilled career in a trade will be undercut by these new government workers. Indeed, the government will undercut them using their own tax money.

The market will be flooded with “affordable” goods and services delivered by untrained inexperienced workers who will show up to “work” on houses for the Federal Government, even though they have never done such work before.  And they will be supervised by government Supervisors who have never supervised such work before. But fear not, all of this is okay because the goal is that the workers have good jobs quickly, not that they do good jobs.

Philly is just one small example. There are estimates that we may have as many as 600,000 “McJobs” done by “McWorkers”, who have no stake in the business, no interest in the quality of the outcome, no reputation to protect or build, and no long-term future in the business. When one McJob is done, the Government will come up with another McJob in another profession or another region. In return, Democrats will secure the votes of ever increasing numbers of McWorkers who will depend on them for a supply of easy work with no accountability and no future.   We will adopt the “Big Dig” as a National model for our new economy.  Unglued ceiling bolts, crushed motorists, and invisible cost over-runs--like the Big Dig-- will be the rule, not the exception. Each time a citizen is injured by the shabby work, a lawsuit will follow, seeking millions of dollars—taxpayer dollars.

After a few years of McWork on the houses of Philadelphia, we will see:

  • Tens of thousands of houses with new roofing which will leak badly.
  • Millions of windows that weren’t fitted true/square will break when people apply force.
  •  Miles of new insulation will become wet if there are any flaws in the vapor barrier layers—which, there will be many, of course.
  • The wet insulation will cause mold to grow rampantly—like New Orleans after Katrina.
  • Energy consumption in these houses will increase, not decrease, because people will need more electric pumps, fans, and heaters than before.
  • Professional roofers, siders, and window installers, who would ordinarily be able to fix these problems, will have been driven out of business because they couldn’t compete with the semi-free unskilled McWorkers provided by the government in the previous years.
  • A few individuals will become astoundingly wealthy. They will be the manufactures of poor-quality building materials. Using targeted political contributions to Democrats that head up the “Senate Select Subcommittee for McWork”, these tycoons will lock up all the contracts for supplying all of the materials for the McProjects.
  • When the greedy tycoons are exposed and put on trial, Democrats will blame Capitalism, not Socialism. The Tycoons will be sent to jail. The Democrats will be re-elected. Journalists in the media will have no tough questions.

  • Although Journalists will aggressively ignore each new failure, it will accumulate until there is inescapable clarity. Democrats will be forced to step up and say that they “had good intentions”, and that the program needs to be “mended, not ended”. They will say that this enormous waste of people, time, materials, and money is “an important growing pain on the path to becoming more compassionate and ‘green’, and people who argue otherwise don’t care about you or the planet we share”. In fact, “Republicans don’t even care if old people die”.

Democrats will take credit for helping the poor, and ignore the many new poor they create—such as professional roofers and window installers. As Rod Blagojavich did yesterday, other Democrats will insist that they are true to a noble purpose and above criticism. The majority of journalists will not blink or smirk.

When 55% of voters stop believing 60% of politicians, and they tune out 90% of the news media… the misery will end soon after. 51% of voters is the theoretical number, but I include a 4% cushion here to cover a few million McVoters from Minnesota, New Jersey, Chicago, and Los Angeles.

That is my prediction. But I wish I could prevent it all by trying out a small test-swatch before we paint the whole economy with McJobs. Let the first test swatch be Harvard University.

Picture 10,000 people who “need good jobs” being taken off the streets by the Federal Government and converted into new McProfessors at Harvard University. After a few weeks of intensive training in how to be a Professor we would dress them in tweed jackets and drop them at the campus with instructions to go into classrooms and teach stuff, write stuff, and say stuff. Who cares about the details? These people need good jobs, right? At the end of each week, we will pay the McProfessors with tax money we take from the ordinary Professors. We will pay ourselves from whatever is left—which is most of it. Lastly, we will go on television and claim credit for the change and hope we have delivered.

After Harvard, then Stanford, and Time Magazine, and MSNBC and the New York Times. We would dump a few thousand McProfessionals on each one of them for a year. After they get a good taste of McCompetition, perhaps they would stop trying to force it upon the rest of the country.

Mr. Obama Goes to Vegas

In the second Presidential debate, Barack Obama complained bitterly about Bush’s deficit spending.
“When George Bush came into office, our debt -- national debt was around $5 trillion. It's now over $10 trillion. We've almost doubled it. And so while it's true that nobody's completely innocent here, we have had over the last eight years the biggest increases in deficit spending and national debt in our history. And Sen. McCain voted for four out of five of those George Bush budgets.”
Now 90 days later, Mr. Obama proposes his own deficit spending that will surpass Mr. Bush’s whole first term of spending binges by a wide margin; and Obama will do all that in only his first month. Obama will not try out a small-scale spending program (like 50 billion dollars) in order to see whether it is manageable by his new Cabinet of chums. Nor will he test the honesty of the “casino dealer” for a few hands of cards before he shoves all our chips to the middle of the table.

No, dear people, no. Our “smart” new President will shove a trillion dollars of chips into the table on his very first hand of a card game that he has never played before. Brilliant! There are two ways to explain Obama’s rapid lurch from “pay-as-you-go” budgeting to the worst deficit spending in history. Take your pick, you intellectual liberals out there.

First is that Obama actually believes the following simple statement. Although deficit spending harmed a good economy when we had one, deficit spending is now the only means to heal the economic sickness brought about largely by deficit spending.

Second, is that Obama’s debate complaint was actually that there wasn’t enough deficit spending achieved by BushCain. Not enough “Big Dig” projects or “Bridges to Nowhere”, or other unsupervised hasty projects that “get people working on jobs” such as he now proposes.

I hope readers can now see why many of us didn’t want Obama’s very first sandbox to be the entire US government. So, all you intellectual Obama supporters out there. Have fun watching your paycheck pay for his casino chips. I’ll have fun watching more Obama/Biden bumper stickers steadily vanish from the cars on the Interstate.

Jim Wallis is a Political Toupée

Dear CRC Banner Magazine:

In 1979, Jim Wallis said in an interview that he wished that "more Christians will come to view the world through Marxist eyes."  He is now a spearhead of the Christian “Social Justice Movement”, and his utterances get the attention of The Banner. Although the "Social Justice Movement" overlaps Christianity at Matthew 25, I see this passage being used as an exit door into a Marxist belief system that places hope for humanity in the providence of leftist government—which is, ironically, the most savage and unjust political system in human history.

Like modern Marxists, Wallis excludes abortion from his list of Social Injustices. But Wallis does so very cleverly. He blames abortion on nebulous preconditions such as our "Throw Away Culture", and he blames the pro-life movement for not working hard enough on the preconditions. He cites environmental issues and consumerism as a couple more problems that pro-lifers must solve before earning a right to oppose industrial man-slaughter.

Is there any other act of Justice that Wallis would postpone until the culture is overhauled and the environment is clean? No, there isn’t. So, it would be more forthright for Wallis to admit that “hell freezing over” is the actual precondition that pro-lifers must achieve before he would join them in opposing 4,000 small acts of torture and killing that happen every day.

And so, excuse me, but I regard Jim Wallis as a toupée. Yes, a toupée. All during the election season, he was used to cover that ugly spot of bald hatred that Democrat Party leaders have for Christians. Now that Wallis can claim some small success in delivering votes, he will surely find other Democrat politicians who will “wear” him for a while. It looks like his is trying to put down roots and become real hair on the scalp of the Democrat party, but I suspect he will be tossed into a drawer pretty soon.

We’ll see what happens, but in the mean while I am working so that other pro-lifers I know are not fooled by his “new morality” that is “less divisive”. In sum, I am all for social justice. However, I want no part of the Marxist "Social Justice Movement” or any of the Auxiliary of Christians who jog along behind it.   Vladimir Lenin had a term for such people. He called them “useful idiots”.

Obama and Mugabe Take on the Evil Catholic Hospitals

An article from Slate.com on FOCA and the looming battle to force Catholic Hospitals to provide abortions here.

Way to serve the poor, Obama, close down the Catholics hospitals that specialize in serving the poor.

You know what this reminds me of?  Zimbabwe.

Robert Mugabe (link) had a very similar conflict with Catholic Hospitals that. But worry not, it doesn’t mean anything because there are big differences between Obama and Mugabe.
  • Mugabe studied at Oxford, not Princeton.
  • Mugabe got his Law degree from the University of London, not Harvard.
  • Mugabe lectured at a law school in Zambia, not Chicago.
  • Mugabe built his political base of thugs from young gullible people who were taken in by dazzling jingoism about Social Justice.

So, If Obama really means that FOCA is the first thing he will do, then the first battle line has been drawn right between the two feet of the Christian Left; between the Left foot and the Christian foot.

We’ll see if they move their feet.  I’m betting they change the subject to starvation, or at least the starvation outside of Zimbabwe, Somalia, Myanmar…and other Paradises of Socialist Justice.

Sarah Palin, the Mommy Elk

Elected leaders must have families because they must have a stake in the future of the country.

If you doubt it, just watch the Nature Channel. Watch the elk mommy run straight at the wolf and stomp him to death. Watch the childless elk run away from the wolves…for a while.

People who pursue pure excellence in their job by opting out of a family life, wind up with a sharply diminished basis for loyalty to their country. They simply have no stake in the future beyond their own life, and so they are prone to soft effort, denial and avoidance of threats, and even betrayal.

Aldrich Ames is a good example of somebody who pursued skill, but not family.

Julius and Elthel Rosenberg
also come to mind. They began spying for the KGB five years before the birth of their first son. One could argue that having children was a cynical ploy to gain the appearance of normalcy.

I submit that a woman who aspires to political leadership must have a family, even though it opens her up to the criticism of liberal hypocrites and other retards who insist that children are a distraction from the job of VP.

Sarah Palin’s family is exactly the reason why she will fight like the Mommy Elk in every circumstance. She will not run away from threats like so many childless liberals do because she has a big stake in the future of the country. To me, the more kids any leader has, the better.

I will take the “Mommy Elk” every single time.

UN Child Abuse will be Forgotten Promptly

See this story about abuse of children and women by UN peacekeepers.  It is rampant and widespread, and therefore it will be promptly forgotten by the liberal media.  Rush Limbaugh rightly points out that although this is "Abu Ghraib" on steroids, it is not a crime by conservatives or republicans or the military.

It is a crime by the UN, a
nd so this story will be put on the fast track toward the center of the memory hole, never to be discussed again.

Update:  Jan 2009 and no further discussion has happened...just like I thought.

Miss Teen South Carolina Clarifies Obama’s Capital Gains Rate

“I personally believe that U.S. Americans are unable to do so because, uh, some people out there in our nation don't have maps of our, uh, 57 States and I believe that our education like such as our Capital Gains tax rate should serve purposes of fairness by moving the tax rate from 15% to a number no higher than the 28% that was under Bill Clinton. But I personally also believe that raising the tax rate on such as Wall Street Americans would be unable to hurt the economy of U.S. Americans because of good things that might happen in other places, like Wall Street America. And for purposes of fairness to all the U.S. Americans, not just rich U.S. Americans, the lowest increase in tax rates will go to the great majority of U.S. Americans who own small amounts of stock for our children.”
